The history behind Porsche
Porsche has a global presence as a luxury brand and well-known for its sports cars. In this point in time, it is difficult to imagine a world without Porsche. To learn more about this history behind this brand, keep on reading.
The birth of Porsche
On June 8, 1948, Porsche received its registration for its 356 “No.1” Roadster. Ferry Porsche had a dream of sporty driving and he made it official on that day. His vision has reached over 70 years and the brand still reflects many of the same traditional values since the birth of Porsche.
Pioneering innovations
Before the official birth of Porsche, there was the Lohner-Porsche. This electric vehicle was built in 1900 by Ferry’s father, Professor Ferdinand Porsche. Later in 1900, he provided a template for hybrid vehicles with a gasoline and electric mixed drive. In 1939 the basis of an idea as Porsche as a sports car sprouted.
The Porsche 911 – successor to the 356
A breakthrough from Porsche was from Ferry Porsche’s son Ferdinand Alexander when he helped the company design the Porsche 911. Presented to the world in 1963, it was one of the world’s most technically and stylistically leading sports cars. All Porsche models from there on have been modeled after that 911.
