The Story Behind the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition

A Design Overview and Story of the 911 Targa Heritage Design Edition

Everyone knows the Porsche 911 moniker. However, the Porsche brand continues to bring forth unique design schemes to the model – such as the Targa Heritage Design Edition. As an ultra-modern Porsche 911, its design makes callbacks to the 550 and 356 models on top of the first Targa models in the 1960’s. Meanwhile, an entire section of its name – “Targa” – means ‘shield,’ meant to represent its five Targa Florio victories in the mid-1950s and 60s. The model completely embodies modern ingenuity with its historic past. For more information on the story behind its design, Galpin Porsche of Santa Clarita dove head-first into the model.

Exterior Details of the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition

As the exterior of the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition will draw any eye, the design features harken back to the past and look to the future. For its tires, each model receives four distinct tires. The aluminum alloy rims – known as the “Fuchs rim” – are built in a single piece to make for a lighter piece. For the Heritage Design Edition, the rim is arranged in a cloverleaf pattern. This is a revived style, which pairs well with the wheel hub’s vintage 1963 logo. Meanwhile, the model’s top brings a modern touch with its capabilities. The top removable roof can fold out and back behind the Targa Bar in just 15 seconds.

The model’s analog rev counter, which displays a similar green-digit style from 1950s Porsche models. Meanwhile, the inside matches well to the exterior Cherry Metallic paintwork.
